I have posted this video to show how one can creativity use the Canon 7D with video capabilities. Ultimately, yes, the reason for us to take pictures/video is to tell a story, incorporate images with sound.  For, now let's just focus on the imagery.  Notice the composition, focus and timing.  Watch it with the sound on, then try it with the sound off.  This will allow you to focus on the visual first.  Of course all aspects (story, image, motion, sound) are combined and balanced in a successful way.  For anyone looking to see what a camera is capable these days, you can see here how it can be creatively shot.

Baby Inspiration with D90

There was some discussion lately how to be fun and creative with baby photos.  Well, here are some great examples of that with the D90 with really nice results.  I do have to say I am a bit jealous not to have video on my D300.  But its ok, it really does show how simple things can be very inspiring if approached from an interesting perspective. Thank you David.

Lightroom Hedge

I took a good friend camera shopping yesterday and we were talking about creatively composing shots. And after seeing this image, it becomes clear to me that there must be some sort of vision toward the potential direction one will take in digital processing. The character of this image is enhanced with its choice in rich color values that assist the lines that move your eye vertically up and down them composition. It is all framed very nicely with lighting effects and vignetting.

Getting Started

Hi Everyone,

Digital SLR cameras have clearly made it into the consumer market. This is an amazing thing because the lines between professional and amateur have become quite blurred. My hope that I can use this blog to demonstrate this and hopefully provide some good processes or workflow for digital photography behind the lenses and in post processing on a computer.

When discussing with someone what equipment they should use or what software is best, there really isn't one. It just depends on what results are intended. What I mean is that all we really want to do with photography is capture a moment, tell a story or just document some experience. Regardless of skill level, I recommend certain techniques that are fundamental to digital image creation, not just photography, but anything you may see on your computer screen. We can get into the details more later...

In attempts to keeping our minds open and thinking very broadly, I will start this blog with posts of other sites at various skill levels. This will provide good reference to see what is important to the pros. I will then try to pull concepts from these sites and compare them to my "opinions" about workflow.

Please ask questions and make comments...as it will influence the direction this blog travels.
